Dear Divine Ma,

What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?

Today something new happened. A dozen of us have been studying the diaries of Lahiri Mahasaya in the book Purana Purusha. And this past session we read all his entries about the spiritual eye at Kutastha. One thing he says is it can look like the moon when the spiritual eye appears large, and it looks like a dot or a star when it appears small. I got the feeling that the larger moon version tended to come earlier for Lahiri, and the dot or star only came later in his own sadhana. Even years later. But today I had a more typical experience of a moon shaped presence that I was relating to, when all of a sudden it seemed to collapse around me, almost capturing me. Though I wasn’t trapped nor hurt physically. Rather it was like it engulfed me—almost hugging me. And then I felt I could have been drawn in through the center of that hug, as if there were a hole in the center which I could not see, but feel. I didn’t go, though. Was I afraid to go? Mostly I was surprised by the pull toward that center. Then I remembered my friend waiting for me to share coffee. Ah, priorities!
