Dear Divine Ma,
What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?
Guru WAS right—imagine that! On the second day of my seclusion, in my morning sadhana, I did my normal kriyas. My jyoti mudra followed the dictate of “hold at the spiritual eye to the count of 25” with the added wrinkle of Master never having said how fast or slow our count to 25 should be! So, with Shivani’s encouragement, I made jyoti mudra as long as I was capable. But it’s not that for which guru was right. Rather at the end of my jyoti mudra, I looked up behind closed eyeballs as instructed, only to discover that my back began to spontaneously “accordian” with the shoulder blades pulling close together. And that movement automatically forced the chest and heart to lift and protrude far out in front of me. I ended up in the exact pose for meditation that is regularly taught in Meditation I classes. I had personally always sort of “pooh poohed” such instructions, as if I, with 40 years’ experience on the path, must know better what actually worked. But no, in actuality my guru DID know best. It’s just that I had to wait 40 years to have His true teachings confirmed—from within!
