Dear Divine Ma,
What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?
I loved the experience of Lahiri Mayasaya in his book, Purana Purusha, where he perceived himself behind a being that was standing but not moving or saying anything, and that this being shone with a radiant splendor. Now, I believe that could be the same pillar of Light that I sometimes see in lieu of the spiritual eye. This is the “being” that brings me a deep calmness, and the sense that in that state I could accomplish anything. I believe we are both talking about experiencing some of the “manifestations of the Divine.” There is light. There is sound. There is power. There is wisdom. There is peace, and calmness. There is love. There is joy. What more IS God but those very aspects? Yukteswar said those traits are God—how God comes to us. We no longer think of God as being an old man with a long gray beard. Yukteswar chastised Master for holding on to such expectations. God is these eight manifestations.
