Dear Divine Ma,

What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?

“Alertness. It’s so easy to lose your wakefulness during long meditations. I see so many of especially the grey-headed ones losing consciousness during their attempts to go deep in sadhana.”

What is it that causes the older folks to nod off?

“Well, the energy level peaks but then begins to drop in older adults. And besides, many of them were once on fire for spirit, but have now ‘lost the calling’ and no longer have that fighting spirit they had earlier on.”

True.

“But if one wants God badly enough, one can overcome all those possibilities. Then desire for God keeps one burning with enthusiasm long after his peers might have given up. Want something enough and you won’t lose your motivation for it. But you must keep the fire burning. That’s why both service and study are so important. Without stoking the fires with inspirational reading (or listening or watching spiritual content) then people run out of the fuel for the journey, and they give up!”
