Dear Divine Ma,
What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?
Today it’s about aging with grace. Yesterday five of us sat around a breakfast table and gave what our doctor friend humorously called our “organ recital”, as we all exclaimed at length about which of the organs in our own body were drawing attention to themselves. As [the doctor] himself stated with mock pride, “Oh, yes, all the organs I still have are working perfectly.” We all had many hearty laughs all morning long. It was a delight to be catching up with old friends. But that’s just it. Though formerly when we got together, we would talk at length about the multitudinous ways we all were serving humankind. Now most of our conversations were taken up by discussions of our latest medical ailments.
What was happening, as Master used to put it, to our “spiritual adventuresomeness?” Now is the time to re-double our spiritual efforts. Yes, we all volunteer when we can, but too much emphasis has become about the little physical self. So little recently has been about how to take the next steps at growing the big Self, the Divine side rather than the merely human. Save me from becoming what Master termed a “psychological antique!”
