Dear Divine Ma,
What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?
“I want you to open your heart wider than you do. You too often go through the motions, but when do you truly love? You want to be known as a bhakti, but are you in reality? It’s not enough to LOOK like a bhakti unless you actually feel love in your heart.”
What would it take for me to open my heart more like You’re talking about?
“It would mean you would feel a burning in your chest for the Beloved. It would mean you are His own, that you would be willing to do anything and everything in service to the Beloved. It means you would drop all things that tend to distract you from focusing on God Alone. It means that nothing would draw your attention away from realizing you are One with God, that you are His own, that you have nothing in life that is higher priority than Him, that the one thing you want more than anything else in the world is to merge in His consciousness. God alone, God alone, God alone.”
I do know what you mean here, Jack. Yes, the pain in life often is the motivator that gets us deciding there must be a better way to get close to God. As long as life is all “hunky dory,” then there doesn’t seem to be any need to change our actions and responses to life. But when our ways of acting only bring more pain, it does make it clearer that something else has to be attempted. And so yes, for some of us, that is the time we finally turn to God once and for all. Whatever it takes, as long as we actually DO turn to God in the end!
Nothing a little pain can’t fix.
