Dear Divine Ma,

What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?

“It’s willingness. How willing are you to do what it takes? To do what needs to be done? To do what’s trying to happen? To do God’s will. Yes, these are high marks to achieve. But what else is life meant for? These are the rightful purpose of life. You often say that life isn’t worth living without a sense of purpose. You often complain that as people age, they sometimes struggle to find and keep a sense of purpose. Well, these points are one’s sense of purpose, at any stage of life. If you can say yes to any, or all, of these, then life will have been a success. It isn’t any more complex than that. Do what’s in front of you, and do it with willingness and gracefulness, and there’s a good chance your purpose—your dharma—will have been fulfilled thereby. Sure, keep God in your heart and mind, that would help. And think of others more than self. That too would help solidify life’s success. But it isn’t really all that complex. Do what’s right. That’s what will bring you to God. That’s the only real definition of dharma—doing what will bring you closer to God.”
