Dear Divine Ma,

What Do You Want Me to Learn Today?

“Let’s talk about devotion. When you want God to help you with something that is challenging in life, it is easy for you to pray for that help.  As they say, ‘In foxholes, there are no atheists.’ But it takes much more discipline to call God into our lives when there is no crisis. During everyday life, the tool that replaces crisis prayer is love. You were expecting the answer to be devotion perhaps? But what is devotion but only love directed? Whatever you are devoted to, you will think of that. If it’s a loved one, your thoughts will be of them. If of the guru, your thoughts will turn there. If of God, then your thoughts are with Him. Thoughts directed strongly enough is all that love is. And when that love is continuous, it is devotion. We are devoted to what really matters to us. We love something enough, it’s our devoted cause. If we love God or guru enough, that’s devotion. Devotion is our link to God.”
